hello folks,

need your help in a decission.

running live 8.2 on my old powermac G5. 2,4 GhZ 6,5 GB RAM with tiger 10.4.11.

playing with the idea to upgrade to leopard 10.5.8. retail versions on the bay for approx. 100 euro.

will i realize any advantage in performance in live?

actually there is no other programm besides mail, itunes, safari, ical which i run.

no video rendering stuff. my g5 is pretty much my ableton live mac.

what would you do? invest the 100 euros? or keep 10.4.11 till the end of the G5 days?

thanks for your help in advance.

Hey Monoaural , just thinking about that too, but in reverse . Have leopard on my G5 quad 2.5 but thinking to go back to tiger ,
i just read some old infos that PPC runs better on tiger .

I did LIVE 8.2.2 test with internal soundcard :

G5 Quad 2.5, 4.5 GB Ram,Internal soundcard ,caviar black 7200rpm 1TB jumper set on 1.5 sata ,OSX Leopard 10.5.8.

512 samples,8 tracks - 33 % cpu usage
128 samples,8 track - 39 % cpu

Anybody with some help ?

Thanks
