samples sound different when played in a drum rack...

as opposed to from ableton's file browser - where they sound like they should.
they sound like they're being cut short, and also a bit thinner.
any idea what i'm missing here?

adjust the settings on the simpler then save as default?

ok, i'll try that.
though, shouldn't the simpler just play the samples as they are, by default?
guess i'm a bit confused why it doesn't work that way.

I think drum racks put a -12 level on each sample to avoid overloading the track with multiple samples playing. This might explain why it sounds thinner - it's quieter. I have no idea why they'd be cut short though.
