ABBA and Ace Of Base..the only REAL music in the last 40 yrs

Ok, so after Sgt. Pepper came out and the dust settled, everything musically has essentially been a big deep dark vast blury abyss of noise and cacaphony. The only exception of course was the refreshing appearance of ABBA and Ace Of Base on the radar. I mean come on, seriously...these two ensembles of musicians were a refreshing reprieve from the mundane and mediocre drivel oozing out from the labels and the indy shitbirds. They were the total package....hot chicks, profound lyrics, infectious grooves and hooks, and masterfully woven verse-bridge-chorus structures. Even the frequent off-standard time signatures were cleverly delivered with deceptively simplistic beats and synth beds while we remained mesmerized by the nordic beauty of the delivery. All you guys can keep downloading the likes of L'il Wayne, Lady Gaga and Black-Eyed-Peas from iTunes, and slogging through production of never ending McTunes with your favorite bedroom sequencer. As for me...I've got "The Sign", "Mamma Mia" and "Dancing Queen" on heavy Winamp rotation. :)

Actually, you're all wrong. If there was a tune during this period that even came close to the prolific proficiency of ABBA and Ace song-craftmanship.....if would probably be "Lick It Up" from KISS. :)

Dude... Ace of Base *was* my favorite band when i was 12.. for a couple years... I still respect their stuff.

It was very musical and original. Great melodies. Far ahead of their time.

BTW im not gay and i was a rocker kid growin up... just listened to Korn / rob zombie and shit after that.

I remember arguing with my rocker friends trying to convince them Ace of Base was cool but they all laughed at me lol
