overall latency adjusting just not working for me!!!!

Hi there, I have an MBOX and I've tried for the life of me to get Live to record clips and play them back at the correct timing. without me having to move the first warpmarker forward to compensate for the latency in the recording.

Every other app just does this flawlessly, why do I have such problems with Live?

I've followed the recording click from your own soundcard tutorials and input the value of the time difference in the overall latency box (tried it as bot + and - values) and none of them do anything to anything...

If anyone can offer advice to sweetjesusm, i will be thankful.

same here :(

i use 4.1 on XP with a RME Multiface, and i can't compensate for the latency when recording external audio. Settings for overall latency have no effect whatsoever. Only thing i can do is minimize the soundcard buffer, but unfortunately i cant go any lower than 6ms, which is unacceptable for me.

sucks big time....

check out the beta?

The beta notes posted at the top of this forum have some latency related fixes mentioned.

the only latency related fix i can see for 4.1.1b2 is the 'rounding bug'. IMHO this has nothing to do with overall latency compensation not working at all...

Overall latency adjusting working for Vercengetorex.

I will try the beta, but basically what I think I'm after since the writing of this post has become a little bit more clear.

I'm after ADC so that the minute gap i the beginning of a recording is automatically removed based on my latency.

I have come to assume that this is not something live does based on the big ADC thread that was goin on.

Latency adjustment only works when monitoring is turned off.

That is quite lame. The overall latency adjustment should work when monitoring is turned on as well, or at least there should be an option in the preferences.

The manual claims that people tend to play a little earlier when monitoring is on: I'd like to see scientific proof of that!

Give us Automatic Delay Compensation! (Also give us Plugin Delay Compensation, but that is a whole different issue).

yeah
a lot of stuff that I use delay on, I play notes that play with the delay and to not hear and effect in time is just wrong.

Also I have singers syndrome on the keys, quite often I will play stuff better when I hear it washed out in verb and fx (which I tend to cut down on when doing the production tweaks).

You turn monitoring off where it says 'monitor' on each track (performance view).

Yeah, I, too was saddened to learn that latency adjustment only works this way. But if I'm recording, say, a live drum track, timing is everything. I don't want to go back and re-adjust the whole sample and go, "does that sound right to you?".

I work with a guy who needs reverb on when he sings. Most likely to disguise his bad singing. I tell him it's either reverb, or sitting around waiting for the producer to fix the timing. He sings dry now. I have autotune, anyway.

okkkayyy, i thought it was another monitoring... it's true thats it works on auto... good to know that !
