Just bought a new novation SlMk2 controller and am currently mainly using it with the NI Massive vst plugin. Once i have recorded something into the MIDI track, is there a way i can grab section of that recording (along with the parameter data) so i can play that section of sound anyhere in the arrangement and it sounds the same.
at the moment the problem i am having is when i grab a piece of the recording, and move it around i dont think the parameter data is moving with it and i therefore am getting different sounds wherever i move the clip along the track.
Is there a setting i can change
p.s. is there an answer to this problem without freezing and flattening the clip?
Also within the massive plugin, is there anyway that i can get the lfo to be triggered to start when i play a key on the controller. it seems that the lfo is running in the background, where i would like it to start when i press a key down.
can anyone help me with these problems?
help much appreciated!

I can help .....firstly if your working in the session view whatever parameters you program into the clip like the den 5 on massives lfo that clip should remain absolute ,when you pick it up and "drag" it over to arrangement view. like pick it up and then press tab.....but it will remain absolute .now there is another way drop your midi clip in arrangement view then group your massive vsti and configure your macros accordingly to the parameters you want to control. So if the track is lets say 4 bars long and you want to repeat it for 16 bars lets say .... duplicate it 4 times and then where the volume parameter is change from fader to "5den" or whatever the fuck it is you want . and zoom and draw it in the first 4 bars then and this is just easier where it says "5den" on the right mixer side hit the + button it will drop down the parameter you just drew in then hi-lite in white just the 4 bars .copy and paste 3 times to complete the 16 bars and then voila .now if you move them around all over just copy and paste the same way anywhere its ez..then on massive under the lfo rate make sure restart is enabled thats what its for........
respect

i just read your question again and if you mean recording it while moving all your knobs and then only using part of the recording in the session view then ya ive ran into that when trying to chop it and it doesnt trigger the way you want it to ...well stopped recording that way in session view and do it in the arrangement view but abelton is absolute . so if it doesnt sound the way you want it to the loop it remeber the basics of what you did twiddling your knobs and use overdub. other than that ive never tryed it but you may be able to just turn the notes off and massive may trigger in the time you want it to in the timing you want it to......but i never tried it!!!!!but then you will have to maybe keep the extra dead space in the loop and then cheat it back on the arrangement word !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If the automation isn't moving along with the midi clip, check the 'automation lock' button isn't on.
It's above the track list on the right of the arrange view.

thanks alot,
also is there a way you can apply and effect to a particular clip of a track youve recorded, not the whole track?
