Im planning on a bit of a holiday in about 2 months so would like to make my setup mobile.
I am not too good with all the laptop specs actually I know very little, I know the minimum requirements to run these but does anybody here run both on a laptop and if so what setup do you have?
I will be running Ableton Live 8 Suite with NI Komplete 7 (mainly Massive).
I have a budget of around $1500AUD and have looked on ebay and here are a few options. These are examples to give you an idea of the specs.

I am not really looking onto Macbooks due to the overall cost. However I don't know a lot about this topic and if they run better than on of these.
Any information will be greatly appreciated

On the specs for both of the example laptops it says 1.73Ghz but in turbo mode it is then 2.93Ghz max. Would either one of these still be ok for the at least 2Ghz?

Bump... Anyone...? :p
I have checked out the Live 8 performance tests and it seems nobody has run the test on one of the new 13 inch macbook pros yet, but I wanna know how its gonna run with plugins like massive etc... running.

Either CPU variant should run few instances of massive with average patches just fine. However in the end it depends on the patches - how much unison, fx, quality mode etc and also to a lesser extent on the audio interface - what latency you are willing to tolerate etc.
In the end the choice between MBP and similar spec *and quality* windows laptop to me comes down how much fucking about you can be bothered with to get all the software your want to use working reliably and if you are willing to disable how the features of you laptop just to get audio working. I have found the cheaper you go on a PC laptop, then generally the more trouble you are asking for and/or the more fucking about you have to go through to get it all working well - especially with certain brands.
Generally a factory OEM install of windows is a total fail for running Live (especially on a laptop) - a factory install of OSX seems absolutely fine even though many people advocate allways reinstalling OSX anyway. Personally I prefer the bettter UI responsiveness I seem to get from windows 7, its a richer user experience etc as well, but Ive very much come around to being willing to live without the nicer windows behaviour, far richer shell and other windows features in favour of OSX for running music production and performance software. I still find I can work quicker on windows in Live than on OSX in live, but thats perhpas just me being still more used to windows, but im sure some of it is little things like pointer accuracy are better in windows, however I find in windows Im starting to miss little OSX things like the multi-touch scrolling etc on the track pads and magic mouse.
