This looks awesome.
I'm planning on getting a new Macbook Pro 13" for mobile production in the next few weeks, and this may just be the perfect interface for it...

USB huh... hm... seems the tides turning. Makes me wonder should I buy a usb hd now instead of a firewire one. Id say apogee are well informed on the direction macs are taking in the next few years (and already have on the normal macbooks), so longterm firewire is gone. Seems to be that way.
If the duet was meant to be THE mac soundcard, id imagine they thought the tradeoff between firewire and usb was minimal. Then again... There are only 4 inputs...

FW800 port is more useful for an HD than audio interface now IMHO.
Even run my RME UFX via USB to the MBP.

glancing over the specs i'm really happy with what apogee did. They listened to their customers like a good company should:
independent headphone and monitor out
192khz sample rate
not sure how i feel about it being usb but i guess it was for good reasons.

DAMN YOU APOGEE! I love my Duet - how could it possibly sound any better? I have to send my Duet in to be serviced anyway, and I bet you they won't upgrade it.

We know the Apogee One plugs right into the iPad and works great.
Wonder if that's the same with the D2?

Looks nice.
I'm happy I bought the Babyface which which has adat and s/pdif I/O.
Granted, it lists at $150 over the D2 but I was able to score one for under $600.
Either way, they are both high quality and compact.

errrr. Hold on, whats with the additional sold seperately device for 1/4 inch and xlr connection?
I am NOT digging that iPod style connector, not at all. That smacks of apogee interfaces becoming 'Appletised'...meaning new interfaces rquired with every update of the MBPs.
Grrr.

That connection is for the breakout box or cables, not a pin connector like the iPad or so .. I guess you mean that in the post..

I think the lack of FireWire has more to do with making this an option for owners of the current white MacBook than it does about the demise of FireWire.
For my personal needs, the lack of an ADAT input makes it a deal breaker. But props to Apogee anyhow. This is a nice looking product.
