Crazy latency issues with 8.2.2?

I am using a MacBook Pro 2.5 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM. Mac OSX 10.5.8. MOTU 8re firewire interface. Just upgraded from Live 7 to Live 8 Suite w/ M4L and am experiencing ungodly latency issues. I have 4 years experience with Ableton and I have never experienced this kind of latency. First I opened a set that was created in Live 7. The latency was so bad that the audio became horribly distorted, delayed, and deconstructed. Assuming this was a problem with loading an older set, I decided to start a new set. I put an Erykah Badu wave file in track 1 and hit play. I put a licensed and registered third party plug-in on the master bus and all of a sudden it was lagging just as badly as it was when I was running about 20 tracks including glitchy drum racks, recorded samples, impulse racks, and several VST/MIDI tracks. What gives? I never had this problem in Live 7 and my sessions are enormous. My CPU usage meter went over 200% just playing 1 track with 1 plug-in on the master bus. ? Could this be a problem with Live 8 and the built-in Core Audio Driver? I literally have not been able to create or enjoy anything about Live 8 or M4L, though I have done a lot of work troubleshooting this problem. Any solutions? Maybe I should just go back to Live 7? I am dumbfounded. Help!

I'm not on mac os but in windows every time I install a new version of live I have to reconfigure my audio driver.
Let say from 8.2.1 to 8.2.2 or even from 8.0.5 to 8.1, as I use ASIO driver, it always resets the audio parameters within asio.
No problem with ableton as the asio driver consider the new version like a new freshly installed program [what it is indeed]
I guess you have to check the core audio settings.
Hope it helps

crazy issues here too.
M4L devices are broken (expected some of them to break but almost all of them are broken), pluggo plug ins not working at all. some receive input but output nothing... and i can only get that much from put them on sends.. on tracks they just don't do anything.
rendering/freezing tracks causes immediate crash. also, sluggish GUI behavior.
10.6.6, mac book pro quad, built in sound.
super bummed.

Yup my CPU meter is totally maxed out in simple sessions with hardly anything going on now.
In 6.0.11 I could run 50 tracks/10 returns/countless plugins and it wasn't breaking a sweat.
Not really sure what to do - Live 8 is effectively useless to me unless I can find a way to fix this.
This is my first prolonged issue with live having been a user since version 4. As someone else siad - "super bummed".

If you're importing tracks made in v7 to v8 - do things get any better if you save a 2nd copy from within v8 and use the copy saved in v8 rather than something saved in v7 (which i would assume would require extra processing to convert to v8 format)

One thing comes in my mind.
Did you separate you library for live 8 from the existing library for live 7?
Maybe it has merged both and that could be that
