any way i can stop live from blacklisting vst plugins when they crash? It's really annoying when you are debugging a plugin. i once read there was a config file but i cant find that info now.
thanks,
oli

What happens if you rename the plugin, launch Live, exit Live, rename the plugin again, and launch Live again?

that's not a solution - when you debug plugins it's super repetitive and having to rename binaries is not fun. thanks for the reply though

Hi,
the text file you are talking about is Options.txt
http://www.ableton.com/pages/faq/options_text
Ableton don't list all the various options there because some of them can cause trouble and are for dev use only.
if you get in touch with support@ableton they will probably let you know what the relevant option is.

move the vst out of the plugin folder, restart live, quit live, then put the plugin back in.

hrmm, that's weird that something wouldn't work for you in Live.

A quick suggestion is to setup a different VSTPlugins folder in the 'File Folder' options. Only put your plugin-in-development in that folder.
To make Live Rescan it, it should be enough to turn 'Use VST Plug-in Custom Folder' off and back on. No need to restart Live either.
The reason for the separate folder, of course is that the rescan happens fast. If you have many plugs in the folder, the scan can take quite some time.
