So you wanna do a sweep , mmm... where should i start ?... draw mode or arrow mode...
you wanna do a smooth curve... mmm i have to mannually double click as many points as i want to make a smooth , curve.
double click to create every single point , instead of just clicking once to add a point...
now, we dont have bezier curves , no snap to beat , you want to lower or higher you automation... mmm you cant snap it to go up or down in the y axis ( up n down ) mmm....
automation in live sucks , im thinking everytime more seriously to switch to logic to do proper arrangment stuff...

Can't you just fade in or out or is that only for audio tracks?

Yeah, just been doing session view loops the last few months, and did an arrangement view track last night for the first time again in ages and had exactly the same thought - very quickly gets frustrating & time consuming making changes...
Hehe, look at us: Berlin... Saturday night... Spring... I'm going for a beer...

It will set you back a tiny bit, but a simple midi controller with some knobs would help you greatly with this. Thats one of the reasons i bring my APC40 to the studio when making/mixing tracks.
The Novation Nocturn is pretty cheep and will allow you to much more easily make curves in your automations.

Dude, you realize that the OP's alias is "TWEAKING KNOBS" right?
Fail.

Yeah, but the entire post was complaining about having to click too much.

It's what sets Live apart from the others. That jerky groove.

Automation curves would be nice, as would a general rethink of Arrangement view. Here's hoping for Live 9. Really need this, otherwise your better off mixing down in another DAW. Problem is, automating a filter sweep on a soft synth or external synth is a tracking task, not a mixing task. A controller does help, that's how I do it. Can't edit as smoothly as you'd like though. Automation is handled differently in every program as stated above.

Ah, fucking spring is here! Its 15 degrees Celsius and sky blue sunny in Oslo. Just a couple of weeks ago it was dark, cloudy and 1 meter high snow in the streets. Parking your car was mental. We had to dig out my buddy's car every time he left my studio.

Spring is coming like an explosion over here. Last night we went to the Norwegian championship of beer breweries. Shit loads of people in the night life. Really love European city's in spring and summer time.
I heard the best techno club we've had in town; Villa, has just re-opened!

Nor do I think this to be an issue solely restricted to Live.
Not true , curves and recorded automation with a knob are two diferent things , if you've used curves before in logic or flstudio for example you would just agree...

I used curves in cubase. Now with Live I use apc40 to record.
please explain the difference you're talking about.

I've used curves before, and really, I'm not that bothered by having to click 8 times instead of 2 for automating.
Would it be nice to have the flexibility of curves? Yes.
Is it the boner-killing production showstopper that people make it out to be on here? No.
That said, if they do put beziers into Live 9, I can't wait to hear how much better everybody's music gets.
