Ableton 8.0.1 stuttering, hanging, crashing, freaking out!!
Hi guys. So I've been using Ableton 8.0.1 with NI Massive for a while now. Just the other day I fired it up to start creating some tunes. I opened up one of my existing projects and started playing. It played fine for about 10 seconds, then all of a sudden things started stuttering like crazy. Even after stopping the audio, some of the massive tracks kept on stuttering! I tried installing ASIO4All, but got the same results. Once the stuttering starts, usually if I try to close the project or open another project, it will just hang and crash. This only seems to do this for tracks with Massive. Other tracks like Impulse, Simpler, or standard audio tracks don't do this. I tried messing with the buffer sizes, changed the audio driver settings. What should I do to troubleshoot this? Thanks for the help!

why on earth are you using such an old version?
that was possibly the most buggy thing they ever released!

go to your help menu and 'check for updates', because that one is at least 18 months old

Oh ok I'll give that a shot. Usually once I get my daw stable I try not to mess with it for fear of breaking my old tracks. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks.

Yes, Angstrom is right here - there have been serious bugfixes and optimizations since 8.0.1 - Live 8.2.2 is a free update too: http://www.ableton.com/latest-versions

Well, I'm running the latest version but I have the same problems with Massive.
When I change a preset on Massive the whole thing goes crazy, and after a while the whole computer freezes. It seems to come and go though... some days it seems to work ok. Yesterday it just kept crashing.

Yeah so I updated to the latest version of Ableton and I'm still getting some stuttering issues in Massive 1.1.5. I found a temporary solution though. You have to delete the Massive database folder. It's under your application data folder, depending on what version of Windows you have. It'll be something\something\Native Instruments\Massive. Rename Massive to Massive.old and load up Ableton again. You'll see it'll create a new Massive folder and it won't stutter for a while. After a week or so it may start up again, so do the same thing again. This is the only solution I've found so far. So it appears to be a Massive problem, not an Ableton problem.

sounds like a well known fix for people using a cracked copy of massive if i recall correctly..

Yep, man up and get the legit version, this isn't a Live problem.
