How to setup a live show with Ableton Live (Unzyme style)

We are a biomechanical pop band from Finland. On stage we use Ableton Live.

When we started to build our live set a few years ago, we couldn't find instructions that would suit our needs. As opposed to a normal DJ set, we use a lot of live (midi) instruments and midi controllers on stage. Everything is run through a single Ableton Live installation. We decided to write a document, not only to help ourselves remember how everything works, but also to help others build a similar setup.

Feel free to get inspired by this document and share it. If you have any suggestions on how to improve it, we're happy to hear them.

thanks for taking the time to write that article! it was very informative.
I always find it interesting to read how other people set up their DAW's and instruments especially in live situations

Thanks for the nice feedback. We'll update the document as we find better ways of doing things.

We try to be as "open source" as possible, so watch out for more documents. Or would you like to see videos?

Anyway, I have to give all the credit to our drummer, Ville Hoikkala. Naturally we planned the whole thing together, but he is the one who actually wrote it down.
