Drum fill question for the new guy. Stylus RMX

So,

I'm new from the Logic Audio camp. In that program I was using Stylus RMX. What I would do is put 8 drum parts in stylus, 3 would be fills, and 5 were either chorus or verse type drums. The way I had stylus set up was that only 1 track would solo at a time. I would hit a button and the other 7 tracks would mute and the selected would solo. I did this by using the "learn midi" with one track, and "learn inverse" with the other 7, thus hitting track 3 would solo that track and mute the rest, hitting track 5 would do the same sort of thing. Pretty simple, right?

I would hit record on Logic and trigger the differing drums with Stylus on the beat. Putting fills in on like measure 4 and hitting a new drum patten on the next bar. For the most part it worked pretty well.

In ableton I seemed to have lost the ability to do this somehow. The same buttons that worked in logic seem to not work at all in Stylus, even just using Live right out of the box. Stylus just derails. Some tracks just sit there, others solo at the same time.. It's a huge mess.

So, is there a way to put Stylus back online, or do you do fills by putting a midi fill just by itself in a scene?

I'm thinking that drums would be lined up one above the other as audio tracks. You hit the next scene and the only thing that plays is the fill before it goes to the next scene.

How do you do drum fills?

Thank you,
Shawn
