Single keystroke shorcuts

I would like to see the shortcuts to access the preferences pane ect. to be one single keystroke instead of key combinations.
Or if it would be possible to make them mappable by key or midi. I know people are gonna say that all you have to do is learn
the key combos, but I just think that is an old school way of doing things. I think Ableton should come out with there own
qwerty keyboard that is totally dedicated to live for production. I think this would be a great product for existing Ableton
producers to enhance there workflow and creativity. Also it can be a great marketing tool for beginners and new experienced users
that are transitioning from other DAW's to Live.

Yes, I've never really understood why Ableton choose to have all shortcuts as key combinations, so I use autohotkeys to remap the most common ones to single keys. So now "b" opens my browser and "p" opens a plugin etc...

How do you rename things if your keyboard is configured to run short cuts?

you can have a global hook that only uses this script when live is in focus.

I hate having to hit two keys to get to the pencil tool. Should be a momentary key press. The tool should toggle between pencil and pointer as long as the key is held down for either tool that is selected.

Agree, and in general vast improvements on both mouse and keyboard customisation are needed in my opinion to compete with other daws for production.

You know, I totally agree. I would also broaden it to this:
Make More Workflow Things Mappable!
I can't assign keys/midi to show/hide a plug in, to change I/O, to change launch mode, to assign to menu commands like copy/paste, etc... I purchased Bome's MT just to get the MIDI control of keyboard shortcuts, but it still drives me crazy that I can't open the current track's plugin, or the numerous other things that can't be mapped.
There's so many mappings hidden in the Delphi control scripts, but we want to set up controls of our own! Give us some more map control without having to "hack" the system.
