Hi there folks,

Just a quickie. No laughing if I'm missing something obvious!

How do you use DirectX plugins (effects not instruments) inside Ableton Live? All of my VST fx etc show up in my plug ins list but none of the DirectX fx show up.

Any ideas?

Direct X happens to be a technology that is employed by windows only.

It would be fair or Ableton to include this since they went for the proprietary AU format of plugins, but since us PC guys get better CPU usage then the Mac guys should get some leverage too i guess..

what you need mate, is a VST direct X wrapper. basically it's a vst plugin that will host your direct X plugins, otherwise you won't be able to use your direct X plugins.

Other choice is Rewire with a host that handles direct X ...

try this link to a VST shell that can run 4 silmultanious direct x plugs. Thats actually the demo the full version runs twelve simultaniously. I only used it a small few times but it worked fine.
