FW410 MIDI question

Off Topic: this question is about the fw410, not Live per se. I am running Live for OSX. (praises, for the record: live rocks, operator rocks.)
The goal here is to get more keys playing into live than there are on my USB Remote25. So I plug the MIDI OUT from a Korg Wavestation EX into the MIDI IN of the fw410. I select fw410 in Live's preferences. I set the Korg MIDI section to "Transmit". But it won't control Live. I have tried this with an ol'skool JUNO106 and a Studiologic weighted 88, too, to no avail.
Bottom line: I don't know how to use the midi section of the fw410.

The fw410 preferences panel is all about the audio: nothing here about MIDI. The fw410 manual doesn't talk much about midi either. There is no LED to indicate MIDI Data received.
Ideas?

there isn't a midi activity indicator in the M-audio mixer app but there is one in Live -- does it indicate it is receiving input?
I have used the MIDI ports on the fw410 and fw1814 with no problems, fwiw.

Thanks for the fwendly reply, grover. So it sounds to you like I am doing this right? It should be so simple! Does it make sense that Live shows two "FireWire 410" MIDI devices? (OSX's Audio MIDI Setup also shows two.)
I do get MIDI indication in Live via USB (O8 and R25 controllers). But selecting the fw410 in Live in the Preferences panel and in the Track yields no indication. Not even with the Novation R25's MIDI OUT. And that goes for either of the two (

) instances of "FireWire 410" that show up in live.
Oh, by the way, I can send midi *out* from Live via the fw410. e.g. I can play the Juno with a USB controller... go figure!
fw-fw-fw-fwustwating!

I have the same problem with my M-Audio 410 with Windows. I can get MIDI input from my UC-33 just fine but if I pulg MIDI into the 410 I get nothing - must be something obvious but I'm not getting it.

Not sure if this is going to help, but my first interface was a 410, and a few weeks into owning it, the MIDI just stopped working. I tried it on other machines, and it just didn't work. I bought it from audiomidi.com, and they exchanged it for me with minimal hassle. audiomidi.com rocks. I'm using an 1814 now. Aside from the occasional audio drop outs (fuck you M-Audio), it works fine. I have a 12" G4 iBook 1.02 ghz.
