Sidechaining with Waves C1

Track 1 - One synth track with a pad playing and the Waves C1 Stereo-sc compressor as an insert effect
Track 2 - The clichéed four-on-the-four kickdrum

Mission: Get the track 1 pad pumping via sidechained kicksignal from track 2

I can't for my life get this to work, any ideas?

You can't. Waves doesn't support sidechaining in Live. (Only in VST3 as I understood the answer from waves, which was pretty full of BS, by the way...)

I'm afraid ableton is getting way behind all other 'normal' DAW's, they had a great advantage but they are not even bothering to keep up with the others. Sidechaining is a very basic fonction with all the other DAW's. Enough said, I think I'm leaving!!!!!!!!!!!

Please do, and take your whining with you. The problem is with Waves implementation, not Live. Live supports multiple input channels to plugins, which means external sidechaining is fully possible. Sonalksis SV-315mk2 has it in Live, Cytomic TheGlue has it, Softube CL-1B has it...

FWIW, just use the live compressor for sidechain pump duties. It's got a very flexible sidechain section that is quick and easy to set up, and it might sound slightly different than the C1, but definitely not worse.
