saffire / usb audio after sleep mode

I have a little annoyance with my new focusrite saffire 6 usb audio interface. When I resume after sleep mode (I deactivate the automatic sleep, so sleep by choice), if I try to open and playback audio from any application, the audio sounds bit reduced/smashed/distorted/rough/?. I have found if I unplug/replug the usb it resolves this. Sometimes if I toggle/play with the saffires settings it works as well.

Is this a common problem to the saffire, or usb audio interfaces in general after sleep mode? It's my first usb based interface, so not sure

I'm running a samsung qx410-s02 with win7 64, core i5. There is a known issue with usb 1.1 devices (the saffire) and i-series processors in win7 where they will only connect to the usb hub, not to the usb root. This causes some limitations on buffer size (still resonable), but I wonder if it also plays a factor in this issue.

Any help much appreciated! Waiting to hear back from focusrite as well.

I get the same problem on my Macbook so I assume it's the interface not the computer. Just have to avoid letting it go to sleep!

thanks for the info philipc. at least good to know it is not a machine specific issue. haven't heard back from focusrite support yet.
