When I have a track with an arpeggiator, I want to be able to play an arp/chord, then press the sustain pedal to hold it without changing the sound, so that I can move some knobs around or start new loops. Currently in Live, when I do this, the notes within the arpeggio are sustained and then it quickly becomes mud. I want the arpeggio to continue unchanged.

Is this possible? If so, what is the best way to set it up? Let me know if I left anything unclear.

MIDI map the 'Hold' button on the Arpeggiator to the sustain pedal?

That sort of works, but then I cannot use the sustain pedal for other normal channels. I am arranging a live set, and another track is acoustic piano and I use the sustain.

Well map it to something else then, a knob, button, or different foot pedal.

What you're describing isn't how an arpeggiator usually works: the sustain pedal causes the synth to sustain the notes that are played, and the arpeggiator just dictates those notes. It'd be a cool feature, but personally the behavior you're describing is what I'd prefer, as it's what I'd expect.

Matt_Quinn has the right idea: just map that hold to another pedal, or a button or something if you can spare the finger for the time it takes to hit it.
