APC 20 and shift button keeps freezing

hello Folks
1. I got a new APC 20 a few month ago. every time i use it with Live 8, after 30 minutes or an hour the shift button does not respond. The faders stay stuck in the last shift mode.
for example: if i am in Volume mode, i can not access other fader modes such as pans, sends, or user banks. It stays stuck.
After 2 hours the entire APC 20 freezes. It does this strange thing where every button is in NOTE MODE, even when i am not in Note Mode, and the Faders don't work at all.
I tried uploading the latest vesions of Live, but nothing changed.
I also contacted AKAI to see if i have a defective APC 20.
anybody experiencing the same issues? any solutions?
2. how do you map the User banks? nothing works when i try to Midi Map the faders to control audio effect parameters (I try to do this before the APC crashes).
thanks
david

Something I did, albeit stupidly, was to unknowingly midimap the shift button on my APC20 (I didn't know it was possible to map the shift!). I thought the faders had locked on volume! It took me a while to figure it out and it drove me crazy for about two hours!
(make sure you've changed the APC to the user bank you want BEFORE going into midimap mode!!!)
As for mapping the user banks, I normally first map the effect parameters to macros, then map the macros to the APC. It just gives you more control over everything.
Also, interestingly, I'm starting to prefer the faders for effects instead of knobs, there seems to be more control!

I just recently started using the APC20 and I think almost the same thing happened to me. First 'Shift Send B' didn't work (instead it locked on 'Send A') and after that, still for no apparent reason it locked on volume (no matter if I choose pan, send A, send B etc.) Interestingly enough 'Shift stop all clips' still works! Being very much a beginner, I haven't changed any key mappings, at least not intentionally. I might have done it by mistake which could explain the situation. The problems only affect one particular song, for all others shift works without problems.
So, to summarize, for some reason shift doesn't work for any of the faders. How did you solve the problem - i.e. how do you 'un-map' a key.
Cheers
EDIT: I checked the mappings (by clicking the 'key' and 'midi' buttons in the upper right corner and none of of them had the shift key mapped, at least not as far as I could seee. Any other suggestions????

If you map the shift button, then the 'stop all clips' won't work either. Just to double check I would delete all the midi mapping, but it looks like you could have a different problem. Although everything else seems to be exactly the same as when I mapped the shift!

Thanks for your reply.
I double checked as suggested and found that the midi map was completely empty. I have still no idea what's gone wrong. On one hand, it really doesn't matter that much as the song was just something I put together quickly to get to know the APC. On the other hand, it would be nice to know what went wrong to prevent it from happening to a more important project.

Map the Shift key to something, take note of what note # the Shift key is. Then double check to see if you have anything mapped to it.

I tried that but it didn't work

. For this particular set I have no mappings whatsoever...
