Hi. i plan on purchasing a Novation remote 25 soon. Should i also get a small MIDI interface--i was told the Remote 25 USB driver is not very stable. Is this still true ?
And does it work equally well Macs and PCs ?
Please advise.
Thanks
Faisal

I haven't had any problems.

Remote 25 connected via USB directly, no MIDI interface
Mac 2.5 DP
OSX 10.3.7
Live 4.1

I believe I did go to Novation's website to get their latest driver when I first got the Remote - standard procedure for any new gear...

sometimes it doesn't show up at first as a MIDI device, so I toggle its power and pow, there it is again. this happens in OSX.

Otherwise, the keyboard is a dream to play, can't wait till they come out with the 49 and 61 key versions. Only decent USB keys out there, imo.

In my experience, I get chronic pops and clicks form mine. Drivers seem to be the culprit. Haven't seen any new one in a year ! Latency settings in Live change if I turn it on before or after the laptop !

Works flawlessly here.
Madlab-pops and clicks? Are you using the audio version or the standard keyboard/controller? As far as no drivers for a year?...they've been pretty good IMO, driver updates, OS updates and the template editor app. Maybe you should go back and look again as I don't think they label updated drivers etc very well so maybe yo just didn't spot them!

Mine works with no problems as well, just make sure you plug it straight into a usb port on your computer and not through a hub. I had loads of problems when i tried it through a hub.

x-station/audio vs. remote

the big difference would seem to be in whether you are using hte remote 25 or the remote 25 audio/x-station. Can anyone else with the x-station corroborate madlab's latency/crackling problem?

I have been eyeing the x-stations ever since they came out. if the drivers work, it could bea great device.

but i hear that the onboard effects can not be adjusted realtime without crackling. shame...

Mine is a Remote audio with the synth upgrade. The last version for the combined audio midi drivers was posted one year ago, as I was confirmed by a novation tech guy, and the Remote audio editor is still under beta testing. Have a look at the last SOS article about the X-Station (may be in sept 2004 issue) as they also mentioned those audio problems on OSX and suggested this was probably related to crappy audio drivers. Also, I suffer from the 'first play glitch' for almost any set I open, but I don't know if it's related to those drivers or not. I think it also happened to me with the motu 828 but I have to check this up.
