Idea To Share & DL - A Track In A Rack :)

Hey, I had an idea last night of using a single rack and 8 rotary knobs (like on the apc40) to make a simple live track.

I made this on my lunch break today and id just like to share it with you. Its nothing majorly complicated and it probably doesn't sound that great (from an engineers perspective) but its just a thought to share, im not sure if this has been done before, it probably has but hey.

Anyway, you will need a controller with 8 knobs to get the full effect, if you have the APC 40, that great just load the saved program and select the rack, if not assign the rotaries 8 in the rack to 8 on your controller using MIDI assign. this is all you have to do :)

The Rack contains two sound variations for each knob i.e 2 bass drums - knob 1, 2 snares - knob 2....
you can select one or the other by turning the knob hard left or hard right, if the knob is in the middle the sound is silenced**

** the 'Perc' works different, there are two patterns that can be blended between L>R R>L, when you go furthest right or left the sound is silenced.

The clip contains various patterns a different one for each bass drum, snare hi hat etc etc

This creates a kind of Track In A Rack so to speak, if you fiddle about its possible to mix between a techno loop and a break beat pattern with different musical parts that can be built up using the effects that are built into the rack.

Hope you have fun with this and id love to hear what you think or see any other versions of this pop up, like i say if tis been done before, fair enough and please dont complain about the patterns or the sounds, this is just for fun....

Cheers
Michael

Track In A Rack For Live 7 and Up
Hey I've had a few requests for the Track In A Rack to work with previous versions of Ableton live as the first version will only work with 8.2.2.

This new Track In A Rack will work with Live version 7 and upwards and its a bit different form the one posted previous so if you do have the first Track In A Rack then heres another for you to play with, everyones a winner

Please let me know if you like it, you will need a controller with 8 rotary knobs to get the full 'Live' playability effect but you can use a mouse to move the rotary controls in the rack, and thats still good fun.

Have fun, hope you enjoy it,
Michael

Hey. Thanks for sharing. This is cool!!
I´ve recently tried to build a rack like this, with sliced midi clips in the cells... This is a much better way .... that midi clip will be HUGE.....:)

Foss
