Live band with dubstep backing issues...

Hello there!
I'm, new here and this is my first post so, lets make it count!

But anyway... The trouble is, I've recently got playing in a new band that's going for the kind of metalcore/dubstep sound. We've recently been making tracks on logic and so far they're all sounding pretty cool! It all goes kind of tits up however when we try and sync up the dubstep while we're playing live. So far we've tried bouncing down the dubstep into audio files, and then importing them into ableton live. From here I intended to make use of the global tap tempo feature to try and get the sample to match with us before triggering it. Long story short, it was a huge fail and kinda killed the momentum we'd gathered so far.

So that's basically it, I'm completely out of ideas and was looking for a little help from anyone who might be able to guide me a little in the right direction?

Thanks a lot!

For a little insight on what we're trying to include with live dums and bass etc... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-t7sm-1qWQ the stuff that drops around the 50 second mark :)

i say instead of making the dub match you...you match the dub......make your drummer play to a click track and monitor through head phones...or a speaker....or better yet, it doesn't even have to be a click track.....it could be like some percussion that plays the whole length of the track....that way he is playing along with the ableton track and you guys are all playing along with him....and when the dub comes in, its on point.....and if that doesn't work....fire your drummer  just kidding bro!! good luck

Yeah, having Live follow you guys is a lot harder than having you guys follow Live.

Cheers for the help guys I think i'll definately try this out next practice.
Only other slight issue is, there's a couple of tempo changes in one of the songs, is there anyway to get around this?

Thanks again! :D

in your master track channel in session view you have the numbers of all of your scenes right, #1 through whatever .....if you click on those numbers and rename them (command(mac) or control(pc)+R) according to what bpm you want to play at, it will change the tempo of the scene.....so for example say your global bpm is at 120.....the first verse (#1 on the master track) would go unchanged.....but lets say you want to slow it down to "85bpm" for the chorus (#2 on your master track) click on that 2 and like i said before, rename it "85bpm" or whatever number "___bpm"....and it will change the tempo of that scene.....
other than that, just practice with it man....it takes time (even with out ableton) to get songs right....triggering live should be no different than going from verse to chorus.
how are you triggering by the way?
anyhow good luck....just keep practicing at it, you guys will get it.

ah yeah that seems like a good way to go! (although i won't be able to try it properly till next week)
For triggering the samples I'm using a Behringer FCB1010 MIDI foot controller, because I'm also the guitarist in this band as well as 'lead macbook' :P

what do you have your quantization set at (1bar, 2bars, 8bars......it should say by the pencil at the top near your global play/record button) if you are switching it like a pedal, you should have that set at "none" and it should switch like a stomp box.
other wise LIVE will wait (1bar,2bars,8bars) whatever you have it set at, to trigger the sample.
that might solve your problems right there....i mean, if you presently have that set at anything but "none"
 "lead macbook".....you're out of control!

it was set at 1/2 a bar but i've just turned it off and it seemed to work fine :D
that was just me and my guitar though. will see how it goes with the rest of the band in a couple of days :)

Cheers!
