Say you have a macro knob that controls a synced lfo. Is it possible to midi map one keyboard note (C1 for example) to activate the 1/12 rate, D1 for 1/16, and so on? I want to be able to keyswitch bc the knob isn't precise enough for me to make quick changes.

Is keyswitching possible or would I have to create a chain of several duplicated instruments with the only thing different being the rate, and then midi map the chain selectors?

you can only have one mapped key per macro, so you wont be able to change one macro to different rates up and down the scale...only the minimum and maximum... i was going to suggest using different macros for different rates, but after trying it myself, it seems you can only have one macro per parameter...per instrument...so yeah sorry...and the bad thing about mapping the chain selector is that it only goes in one direction....up or down (when mapped to a key) so you wont be able to go back to a previous chain should you want to.
maybe map the chain mute buttons.....so check it, you have a rack with duplicate chains (except for the rates of course)......each "chain activator"(live calls it) or "mute" button is mapped to a different key on your keyboard...that way you can still go back down in rates(chains), should you want to....the only maybe weird thing about this set up, is that you will always have to hit 2 keys at a time...one to turn the chain on, and one to turn the previous chain off....you can also do kind of the same thing...except 1 chain identical effects (except rates) and midi map your keys to the on/off buttons of each of the effects...again you will have to hit 2 keys at once one to deactivate the previous effect and one to turn on the new one......hope this helps? there might be an easier way? but i am not sure what it is.

That seems like a very creative workaround though I'm hoping there could be another solution. Maybe ableton can support multiple key mappings to a singe knob in the future.

Some knobs let you assign a midi note range. It's really sweet. Just hold down the first midi and and press the last one while in map mode and depending on the device it should work. The keys in between should go to the middle values. I'm not sure if it works with macros though. I was so happy when I discovered this method. I'm not sure if it works with macros though. Try it!

you can hit c1 (for example) keep it pressed down, then hit c2 and you will have an octave mapped across the selector.
