I want to authorize my Live Launchpad Edition so I need the serial number. Hence my question: where in the box can I find it?

Little explanation (you may think that someone so dumb shouldn't be using Live in first place ) - I bought my Launchpad second hand, without the box. The original owner claims he never used the Launchpd Edition and was not aware of any serial numbers included, doesn't know where to look for it.

I tried the Novation forum but without any luck...

The sticker on the back of the device holds the serial number for the device. I have used that for registration of the Launchpad on the Novation webpage. It won't register the Ableton though (I've tried that...) - besides, Ableton requires something in form of xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx - twice as long as the Launchpad serial. On the device itself I cannot see anything like this.

should be on a small black ticket that came with the launchpad. One side gives you the live serial number for the launchpad version, the other side has an offer to upgrade to live 8. you can find live lite versions of ableton pretty easily, and honestly live lite has more to offer than the launchpad version. try to find an old live lite, like 5 or 6, and then upgrade it on the website to 8. might cost 10 bucks or something. gl

hey, i just bought my launchpad and downloaded ableton lite 8.2.2 because i couldnt find the launchpad version for download.

But i have the same problem, my back sticker shows my a number with the “LP“ at the beginning but the sites requires a serial in the other form you said.

So how can i enter this number on that serial form¡

how you solved it,

Hi Sergio,

Actually I didn't solve it but from bartend said I read that there should be a (relatively) small piece of paper in the launchpad box with the Live Lite Launchpad Edition serial on it. If you bought your Launchpad new you probably shouldn't have problems with finding it...
If you bought it second hand like me chances are that you are not going to find it...

I was actually looking around for you trying to locate my LP Edition Live Disc and the various papers or tickets that may have came w/ it. I'm not and never have used LP edition. I have the full version of Live so I thought I'd just give u my serial. Unfortunately, I cannot locate the thing.I found various LP papers and cards but none w/ the soft-ware serial.

If you really want to get into Ableton(I'm guessing you do since you bought the LP.) you should definitely go w/ the full version anyways. If you really don't have the money there's always torrents. (Just sayin')

Actually I took the path suggested by bartend - I bought a fresh license of Live Lite and I intent to upgrade it soon. My guess was that the launchpad edition would give me similar upgrade opportunities (and could be free), but that's a closed case now. I have yet to decide if I want to pay extra for the suite or not. Not an easy task since I own some hardware and software synths already (NI Komplete especially seems to have a substantial overlap with the Ableton instruments). But that's a different topic...

Actually i did search for the sticker inside my launchpad box. I did not find it. I bought it new¡

So i wonder if ableton is really shipping this midi controller with any serial.

i have Live 7 with and original serial, so i do not have any other option for now. I´m stick with 7 version.

I tested some torrent versions around there but dont work fine for me.

I still have a disk that came with my Launchpad but I have the full version so I don't need it.
