anybody have both? which do u prefer?

ive had KP2 but now I own KP3....

The only thing I miss from KP2 is the turntable pre-amp. The KP3 is superior in just about every way IMO. Im still getting into it but id recommend it is you like the Kaoss Pad concept.

i agree with the above, except that the synth sounds on the kp2 are better imho

i had 1 and use 2 live all the time, but end up using it on an aux channel since the the audio sounded thinner, loosing a lot of punch. 3 felt awesome every time i had it under my hands.
i had a micro too, that was very cool to travel with but i had to sell it since it had a latency problem (maybe mine only)

they are all cool device worth to play with, get one

The big advantages

KP3 and Kaossoliator Pro

1. Sturdy construction
2. SD card memory is ok but not used much by me....with ableton in the rig.
3. MIDI! MIDI Clock sync and use as MIDI controller for soft synths... Ableton syncs all devices on in my MIDI chain.
4. The cool lights...


I bought both and added them to my rig as I am touch feeley...Live is just a "Deck" to launch samples...And I play the KP3 and KPro as instruments live the KP3 getting fed the signal that comes from ableton. KP3 is more used than the Kaoslliator Pro...but I really like the vocoder and some of the patches on it.

I am hoping to figure out how to use the XY pad to control the XY controls on Live effects and racks...

I have the Mini Kaoss Pad. And I Love it! for the price it works great! very portable very easy
I also have the original Kaossillator, I love it as well! again a great price and a lot of usability. You can plug in some head phones and make some wicked loops in seconds. I always bring mine if I gotta wait at the doctor or on a road trip.

I want the KP3 REALLY bad. but I got Ableton instead!

Having a KP3, I liked the delays and the synths sounds on my old KP2 better.
In Fact the synths sounds on the KP3 sound all the same to me, no matter if it´s saw or pulse or whatever...useless.

just heard back frm a couple dub producer/live pa artist, both say the kaoss 2 has more old skool dubby, analog type fx, where 3 is more electronica oreintated

yup, that's right. i hated synth sounds and fx's in KP3 and sold it one month after i got it. tbo didn't like sampling abilities that much as well. browsing samples from your memory card is just pain in the ass in KP3. just my honest opinion.

i dont even use the sounds from my kp3 anymore really. i just use it as a midi controller for my soft synths
