Compressor/deesser with sidechain?

A VST and AU stereo compressor/deesser with sidechain is included in the TC Native 3.1 bundle.

Unfortunately TC has now discontinued the TC Native 3.1 bundle, although it still seems to be on sale.

I have always assumed that it works in the same way as a standard outboard compressor/sidechain and is not like the eq sidechain found in Lives Compressor II.

I know AdamJay and ekko use the native bundle and maybe one of them can confirm that it works like a standard outboard compressor/sidechain set up.

Would be nice if we could get a Compressor III with proper sidechain in the next version of Live and PDC and also… the list goes on and on…

Several compressors (VSTs) support true sidechaining. Live states to support them (search for "sidechain" in the manual), but has a bug which crashes it as soon as a key input is enabled. Ableton has acknowledged the bug and is working on fixing it.

See http://www.ableton.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=14828 for more info.

I have now voted yes (if the price is sweet)

Because I have found one bug with TC Compressor sidechain when using it with Live, it fails to save the live set with the sidechain key input switched on, when you next load the live set you have to manually set the key input switch back on - what a pain!

I guess we will have a to wait for the Abes give us a proper Sidechain Compressor that works.

Can someone explain side chain compression a bit?
How exactly would I do it?

Is it the effect Benni Benassi uses?

Thanks so much!!
