Cant get Looper to do overdub properly

Hi, im trying to follow section 21.20.1 of the Live 8 manual, where it tells you how to set up Looper for overdub fx
I dont know if ive set it up right but when i add in some fx from the 2nd channel it doesnt get "dubbed" onto the Looper - or maybe im just not understanding this properly
Took a screenshot in case it might explain things better - ive got some audio in the looper but when i turn up the wet/dry amount on the Grain Delay on the fx track its not getting recorded onto the looper - is this even possible? When i switch the monitoring to IN on the fx track i can hear the effect
Thanks
