Hello,

I'm using Ableton live 8 and rme babyface and sometimes when i mess around with music and stuff i get these blank outs or glitches if you like ....the processor meter is about 10 percent use. I got 13" Macbook pro 2011 i5, 4GB ram. The processor meter springs up for 100 percent usage for lets say for a half second and then back and everything is working normally towards another glitch ....ive tried to maximize the buffer etc. but still no progress. Im quite desperate since this is UNUSABLE for liveacts....considering that ive bought macbook exactly for this purpose :( any help would be more than nice :(

Thanx in advance

What does the hard disk drive overload indicator say when this occurs? The main bottleneck in a laptop is the RPM speed of the HD. You could select problematic clips/samples, go the the clip view/warp menu (or whatever) and click RAM. This stores the sample in ram and acts like a buffer for clips YOU select (to put everything in RAM mode would probably crash the program). Alternatively, unselect HIGH QUALITY on some clips if that's turned on too.

If you just got the laptop chances are there's a ton of junkware set to automatically run when you turn on your comp. These programs are usually useless and drain system resources. So try to close anything running in the background you suspect you don't need.

Good luck.

Well yea I've been watching the HDD indicator and it's not blinking at all. also ive got really NO APPS running at the same time with ableton so i dont see that there is a problem with HDD. Just that ableton is acting weirdly i also got some strange latency with VST or AU but with ableton instruments it works fine :-( Dont know what to do with that and it bothers me a lot :(
