Setting up iPad core midi

Post by DigitalLove » Wed Jun 01, 2011 7:32 pm

How do I connect my ipad2 to midi USB?

I have the cam kit and a USB to midi cable
What do I need now?

And what's the cheapest way?
Thanks

The question doesn't make sense. Which app are you trying to control? Does it even support coreMIDI?

I thought none of the controller apps supported a wired connection. It all has to be done over a wifi network.

I could be wrong though.

Not true. TouchOSC now supports CoreMIDI and MIDI Mobilizer which means wired USB MIDI and standard MIDI cables.

Thats great news!

I have heard bad things about Touchable. there is one comment in the apple store and it says stay away!
I have an Ipad 2 as well but I use my launch pad to much to even consider the ipad.

According to http://hexler.net/forum/viewreply/410/ it won't work via the normal usb-cable until apple opens up the usb-connection for developers.... is there any cydia-workaround-app for this maybe?
A wired midi-connection via Midi Mobilizer won't give you clip names and stuff, I suppose?

I respect your preferences, but the Launchpad does a tiny percentage of what the controller apps for the iPad do. Between TouchAble, TouchOSC, and Griid it’s like having all of Live’s functions at your fingertips.

And it amazes me the amount of money people will throw at music software and gear but are weary of a $10-$20 app.

Beats me, have you tried them all? Which do you prefer?
Like said I have the launchpad and I also have a bcr that I love
I checked out touchable on the iTunes store in Canada and there was one comment that said it sucks.
I have an iPad 2 so I should check one of them out

Hey guys, which iPad2 do you recommend, 16Gb, 32Gb or 64GB? I'm not sure which one will be the best for music apps.

16GB, 32GB, and 64GB all refer to how much storage space you get which has no bearing on how the apps will perform. They all have the same processor and amount of RAM in them.

? I know what hard drive is:) Try to fill out 70-80% of your computer hard drive and I'll see how it'll perform. Of course it "has bearing". Especially with music programs. Unless Apple implemented in iPad some magic technology. I'm asking someone who works with iPad and has MANY music applications, like GarageBand, Korg and others. Not just one TouchAble controller and a couple of mp3 songs. Does iPad perform with no problem and 16GB is enough space? Kind of doubt...but not sure which one 32 or 64 will be enough. Thanks.
