Critical questions about signal routing! Help?
I'm using using Live 8.2 and M-AUDIO Fast Track Ultra (USB 6ins 8outs).
I'm trying to create a click track but I'm stuck dealing with specific routing issues. Let me outline the logic of my routing and then describe the results:
Test 1:
MIDI track (of hihats)
-> Ext. Out
-> 3/4 (stereo pair)
Goal: To send midi track to only 3/4 stereo pair.
Result: That track is heard on ALL outs instead of only 3/4
Question: Is this a software or hardware issue? Or both?
Test 2:
Metronome ON
Cue out -> 3 (mono)
Goal: To hear the metronome on only channel 3 (mono)
Result: Metronome is played on channels 1,3,5,7
Question: WTF? I'm leaning towards this being a hardware issue but I'd like to verify the fidelity of my routing logic before I focus on the hardware.

Bump.
How about this question: Has anyone successfully routed a signal out a specific channel (mono or stereo)? If so can you describe your set up and gear?

It's most likely an issue with the software mixer for your interface and that your channels are at unity gain.
Could you take screenshots of all the other pages of your Fast Track Ultra window? i.e. Monitor 1/2, 3/4 etc...
Thanks.

Here are additional screenshots:
Everything is going out of 1/2 instead of only their designated outputs.

On the pages monitor 1/2, 3/4... etc...
the software return faders correspond to 1,2 3 4... etc in ableton
take a good look at the schematics on last screen shot, things will make more sense
For what your trying to do give this a try tell me how ir works
For monitor 1/2 tab bring down all the faders execpt 1 and 2
for monitor 3/4 tab bring everything down but 3 and 4
there allready panned so dont touch it....
If you dont get it from here let me know...
like most problem it seems its a user issue.
Dont want to sound rude but did you read your manual..,
A little advice manuals are usualy really helpfull
so are screenshots...
Peace
