Recording Scratching/Cuts Into Ableton Through Audio4DJ

Hi y'all, would be greatful for some help with the following!
I am trying to record a couple of regular (not timecoded) vinly into ableton through my Audio4DJ soundcard, one is just a battle breaks record, the other a plain scratch record. I go into Ableton and select the inputs and outputs as being the soundcard and correspondingly select these on two separate tracks in Ableton, track 1 being inputs 1 & 2 and track 2 being inputs 3 & 4...
This records no problems however the crossfader doesn't seem to work, i.e. when it records my scratching into inputs 1 & 2 and then into track 1 in Ableton, it records the entire signal unnaffected by the crossfader (?) which of course means the scratching sounds out of time and way too long as you need to be able to cut off the signal with the fader.
Is there anyway around this?
The way its setup is a normal Traktor Scratch setup... Out my Vestax decks through my Numark DJ Mixer and A4DJ soubndcard into my macbook via USB.
As I said before, everything records fine, and when I switch the mixer from phono to line I can play back in a very high quality recording so it's great for ripping vinyl, just no crossfader...
Thanks for any help you guys can give me.
