I've an UF80 and it has pref, rewind, fforward and more relevantly record, stop and play buttons.
I'm wondering if there's any way to map these to the play stop and record buttons of Live.
TIA
Erik

Can you not just hit Cmd/Ctrl-M to put it in midi map mode, click stop in Live, press the stop button, click play in Live, press the play button, record in live, press the record button, etc, then Ctrl/Cmd-M again to take out of midi map mode, and it's done?
(You'll need to go to prefs first and turn on "remote" next to that midi input first too if it isn't already btw)

question: is there a way to save these mappings in between sessions?
so I don't have to remap all my mappings every time I run ableton?
(the keyboard was on all the while)

yep, resave your template session (have a look in the Live prefs)...

I scoured the preferences but found no location setting for the template session.
the only thing I found were a couple of differently hex number suffixed template sessions at
...\Program Files (x86)\Ableton\Live 8.2\Resources\Templates\
Am I supposed to save a session there? If so, what name?
EDIT: Oh found it! silly me. Top at File Folder sub-menu in prefs. Thanks!
