I recently obtained a TC electronic IMpact Twin Digital interface. It came with a copy of Abelton Live Lite. I am having dificulty setting things up. The interface seems to work fine and I can monitor sounds through the headphones. When I try to run clips in Ableton I cannot get any sound back out at all. Not even through the headphones. I can record and launch clips but nothing can be heard on playback.
I thought this was because I did not configure my midi I/O. I am trying to use my Roland a70 controller keyboard to trigger midi clips but the same thing is happening- no sound through the I/O or the headphones. I can see the VU's moving and clips are being armed by still no playback. Any suggestions? I am looking for a very basic Getting started "how To " tutorial.

second... look for a knob that says input/DAW on it... i don't know if it has this or not, but i have a TC Konnekt 6 and it does... you'll need to make sure that it's not turned all the way to "input" or you will only hear external devices, but nothing from your DAW.


edit: sorry, i just found a big image of one online and i can see that it doesn't have the feature i was talking about. it actually looks very basic, so i'm guessing something may be off in your Live preferences. on the other hand, there are 4 outputs, so there might be switch to control those that is affecting what you hear.

Yes- the Impact Twin is really awesome- has great pre's in channel one and channel two inputs. I was looking at the Konnect6 but decided that I needed an interface that had MIDI capabilities. That is also giving me problems- While trying to set up my Midi preferences I am limited to a specific list of controller devices- my Roland A70 Kybrd is not listed so I believe there must be a way to sync it as a remote device but I can't find any mention of his in the manuals. I am stucj with using my PC kybrd and mouse to trigger sounds that can only be heard through my headphones- not the external monitor.

In preferences, under the Audio tab, what do you have selected?

For MIDI, the items on the top are for 'control surfaces'. Do you connect your keyboard via USB or MIDI? The bottom section is where you select your input/output for connected midi devices.

My Roland A70 keyboard is plugged into the Midi in and Midi return on my impact twin interface. In my preferences- I selected no control surface becase mine is not on the list. For the in's and out's I selected the TC near mixer- same as I did for audio. I also toggled on the sync and remote- just in case that was the issue. I can see where the program is receiving midi commands due to the flashing yellow midi sync and when I depress a key on the keybord I see a midi transmit- but it will still only trigger when using the PC mouse. So, I know that it is transmitting send and receive on all channels but still nothing coming from my device unless using mouse. There has to be a switch or something that I'm not activating?

Are you familiar with the Monitor button? There is the Mute button (has a number on it) the Solo button (S), and below it, a circle button that is the Monitor button. When activated, the channel 'listens' for MIDI signal.
