I agree this would be quite useful, it works very well in cubase/nuendo, would be nice in live also....

Make sure that you have 'fade' enabled in your clip properties, this puts a tiny fade in and out at the clips start and end points. You shouldn't get clicks at slice points.
Crossfades like Cubase and Nuendo can do, would be very nice to have in Live, I have to agree.
yes, please

Yeah, a simple, quickly accessible way to draw fades (in, out and cross-) in regions "a la" Pro Tools or even Mackie Tracktion would be nice. I would personally upgrade in a sec.!

count me in, I use sony vegas to edit video, and you can choose to have a smooth crossfade between overlapping clips. example: if you have two arrangerview clips that meet end-to-end, dragging the one on the right towards the left, overlapping the clip on the left causes the overlap portion to be a crossfade. You can turn this functionality on and off with a switch, and it would be excellent to see this implemented in Live. +1.

in cd architect, there is also a context menu which appears at the upper corners of each clip, where you can select from a menu of fade shapes
