Mapping Parameters w/ m4l.. How can you set ranges w/ unit?
Mapping Parameters w/ m4l.. How can you set ranges w/ unit?
Hey guys,
I just tried this Max-Device for Kinect (if you have a Kinect, try it, it's really awesome!):
Maybe I don't see how to do this but would it be possible to set the range for the parameter in the desired unit automatically? So f.ex. if you map the parameter sync rate you would automatically have a drop-down menu or so with the right unit (like 1/8,1/6,1/4, etc.), like when you are in mapping mode on instrument racks?
I know a workaround would be to group a device and map the kinect to a macro knob, but it would be cool to set the right range according to the proper unit directly in the device.... Is there a way to achieve that?

Re: Map a range for a parameter w/ correct unit?
Anybody know how to get the unit for the parameter you want to control?
So instead of having a min and max value like this (without knowing which value corresponds to which unit):
...I would prefer to have the correct unit like when mapping a macro knob and setting the min/max values there:
One way would be to do a table with all those values but that would be a pain to figure them all out... has this info been documented already somewhere maybe?

Bump. Anyone!?

Is there no solution yet? Or do I need to explain more what I mean?

there is no solution yet. you can get a string with the actual value plus the unit ( "12.3 dB") but not the range. maybe in some later version.

Robert, how do you get the actual value with units? Unless i'm mistaken, the 'get value' message only sometimes corresponds with the actual value, and doesn't include the units.henke wrote:there is no solution yet. you can get a string with the actual value plus the unit ( "12.3 dB") but not the range. maybe in some later version.
