the reason.

i reinstalled winxp (clean installation on inspiron 8200, sp1).

same thing again. fa-101 needs 8 to 15 % of CPU

as a result i will post this everywhere i can now...
because these loosers at edirol give a shit about that!!!
even writing emails with exactly explanation to them.
No wonder, Ableton doesn´t sell any bundles with them...

i think i'm having a similar problem with my Novation X-Station. with no apps running the cpu is continually jumping from 0-15%. it doesn't do it on my desktop though, maybe a laptop thing? anyway, i feel your pain.

all the newer units are using way too much cpu than they should be and its something that is going to get better for sure.....
m-audio drivers use up to 30% cpu at times which is totally unaccptable.

it only seems to be getting worse, companies releasing products without even proper real world tests, iv'e seen so many mags with ads of m-audio products with Ableton live its false advertising... its criminal...30% cpu use from a driver ?? .. how many people would have seen these ads and gone out an bought it then having all these drop outs and constant cpu spikes ....then having to pay more $ to get a unit which does actually work.. sure some people have posted no problems at all but 1 in 10 is not good enough ...

RME

RME seems to be an exception.
I really hate Edirol for beeing like this now.
I used to have a Hoontech DS24 MKII before
in my desktop. at least they had driver
development....but the guys at edirol are
completely unacceptable! they should
mention this before selling the product!

for me these prducers are mafia guys!

i hope they will pay for that!

Edirol is part of the Roland corporation. You all know how shitty Roland gear is these days... you can't expect this to be any different :(

edirol released their original PCR30s with the knobs & sliders sending messages in increments of 3. they claimed this was an intentional part of the design. because i didn't complain within 2-3 weeks of buying the PCR30, they wouldn't exchange it (seemingly having a newborn is no excuse). so i sold the POS and won't waste a penny on their products again.

Hey guys, i use a Edirol PCR30 to control Live 4 in a gig situation running a PC athlon xp 2100 Motu firewire 828mk II card and ive never had any problems with it at all, i suggested to a friend the other day that he should get one... is there something wrong with them?

i thought it was a pretty cool midi controller due to its size and the nice feel of its knobs and sliders...

you got me worried now... 8O

Well. I use myself and PCR30 and I have no problem with that. Only with the FA-101. Even I don´t like this company anymore...I can at least recommend the PCR30.
