annoying clip automation behavior - double click not zero

this has irked me for a while and is becoming an even bigger nuisance with one of my current tracks. when i edit automation on a clip for a parameter not automated yet, i attempt to double click on my zero point (the default where the automation line is) and the new automation point ends up at 59 or something (instead of zero). if i expand the clip all of the way vertically so that it takes up the whole screen, i can move the automation point back to zero, but that is super annoying to do over and over again. trying to move the automation point from an unexpanded window, it will not allow me to get to zero. this sucks, especially when automating pitch information. has anyone found a way to have your automation points snap to zero rather than to 59 or -59 or whatever the fuck its doing? any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks!

Can you select the area and hit Ctrl-Delete to delete the selected part of the envelope?

yeah but then i'm deleting the very point i'm trying to insert. i want to have at least one (preferably two- one at the end and one at the beginning) zero point so my synths stay in tune with one another.

No snapping nowhere with automation points regrettably... This behaviour and the lack of a snap-to-grid option, or locking movement to either horizontal or vertical with a key/mouse combination, has been mourned about for ages.

This dragging while double-clicking is basically a problem of oversensitivity for mouse movement, and you can't not move the mouse while clicking, even if it's ever so slightly.

I absolutely love my Kensington Expert Mouse with its 5.5 cm trackball. Keep off the ball while klicking and nothing moves...

i guess for now i'll just use the pencil tool to establish a zero point and go from there

that's what I do as well, I don't think there's a better alternative right now.
Let's all hope for the Big Automation Reform™ in Live 9 :P
