Live 8 and Komplete 7

I just bought Komplete 7 and want to integrate it into my Live 8 workflow. I'd love to get this thread sticky with everyone else's workflow and Native Instruments-->Ableton fun. Let it flow!!!

I think I'm liking the Komplete best as VSTs inside Ableton. But Komplete 7 is different than anything I've ever worked with so it's a learning process, but one I'm enjoying for sure.

Mainly I want Battery 3 to diversify my drum work as well as add complexity. FM8 for synth leads and Absynth for so nice pad and sweep sounds. Also I love the idea of realistic sound VST guitars, electric basses and other organic instruments used in performance arpeggios. That's why I got the my Motif XS7, to emulate all those instruments, not just pump out scores of synth.

But when loading Battery 3 kits into the matrix, the matrix doesn't seem to follow my MIDI mapping chromatically on my MPK25. Do I simply remap the matrix layout into a "AKAI MPK25" template? I can't even get started recording MIDI clips because everything's spread oddly around my keyboard.

Also, how do I access the reverb units, compressors and all the effects in the Komplete 7 bundle for my existing Live 8 mixes.

General advice and your own accounts are definitely welcome. Just want to keep this Komplete 7/Live 8 train running!

I just got my upgrade to K7 from K5 mainly for GR-4, Kontakt 4 and Absynth 5 seeing I had the rest other than the extra stuff that comes with it. A lot of the other things are inside other instruments (Ramm is in GR-4 for instance) but haven't done much other than spend a good part of an afternoon installing all through Kontakt 4 DVDs. It's a LOT of stuff to load (small files, takes long time to do). I want to poke around with Absyth personally among GR-4 and Kontakt 4 as well. I've got it set up on my DAW Windows desktop and haven't gotten around to loading onto my laptop since there seems to be a conflict with the Realtek HD audio output devices and ASIO4All 2.10. If I disable the Realtek HD audio I can use ASIO4All within Live and hear stuff, otherwise it doesn't produce any output (I can see MIDI input and meter movement). Anyone else have this happen with Win7 and Realtek HD audio devices and have a work-around that allows both to be enabled at the same time? I checked the ASIO4All forums but nothing is there that helped for me.

Yeah Dark I'm not having those driver problems but I'm on CoreAudio so who knows. I've been scratching the surface on Battery 3, which is something I really want to open up, but I wish it could map the Matrix chromatically as it appears on my laptop screen. Instead, it just throws the kit all over my keyboards or drum pads.

Is it usual Battery 3 behavior to have to always remap the Matrix for each keyboard or pad banks? How can it "learn" you device so it's accurate?

Keep it coming guys.

I ran into the same issue with Battery even from initial version. I don't know why it does it like that and is frustrating. I haven't used it much except for samples in simpler or using the padKontrol when I feel like messing around.

What you describe happens to me as well. What I do is I load a set and if I like its sounds I start mapping them wherever I like. The problem is if you map ie a snare to G3 and there was a hihat there, you will hear both of them when G3 is played. So you either have to mute the hihat if you aren't going to use it or just swap those two cells so that the hihat is sent to another note, thus not played when G3 is triggered.

I agree, it is frustrating. I'm curious to see what others do. I hope there is some cleverer way around, so that I won't have to go through this every time I make a beat.

Yeah I think you just have to either swap the cells how you want them to appear on your keyboard or find a clever way to remap the whole matrix to fit your MIDI keyboard somehow. Has anybody had any good experience with the Controller Editor? I'm gonna research this a bit more and see how the script editor will work out. I'll get back when I go through it tonight and report back.

Worst comes to worst, it seems the click and drag method of swapping clips isn't that tedious and should be a good way to get your drums where and how you want 'em on your keyboard.

I've only ever done drums on my MPC2000xl and using the as audio clips I edit in Live. Very inarticulate at times.

What are some other things that you guys like about Battery 3 that immediately make it badd ass for drums?
