"hot" rewire channel - (monitor=in) - using same track4wav

I have a mostly fully arranged track which uses Ableton Live as master ReWire and Renoise as ReWire Slave. I'd really like to know if I can use this Renoise-receiving track in Monitor:IN mode so that I could sample a snippet of it and have that snippet play, and when the snippet is not playing in the arrangement as an audiotrack - how does the track keep reverting back to Monitor=IN Renoise audio?
