OSX-users: Which ext.editor for Live?

Hi, coming originally from Windows, I used to use SoundForge as Ableton Live's external sample editor. Was nice, could do something and save and go back to Live and there it was.
I've tried Audacity on OSX but it does not in any way recollect where it loaded a sample from - so I can't just do an amplify (f.ex.) and save - instead "Export Selection" and then maneuver (slowly) to the folder where I was at.
So, which (preferably free) wave-editor would a fellow OSX user recommend?
