Recommended small drive for Macbook Air/which files OK?

Hello,

I'm running Live on a 64G Macbook Air. Surprise surprise... I'm running out of space ;)

Any recommendations on a really small external drive? I greatly value portability, and don't even like the idea of having to use an external drive beside backups. But it looks to be necessary.

I have successfully run Ableton.asd files from a not-so-portable external drive at home. After I get a new portable drive, what other Ableton files could I run from it? Could I put the Library out there? (I'm assuming putting the Live app itself on an external drive is ill-advised or not possible.)

Any tips appreciated.

Thanks,
-- Joe

this is the only external hard drive i can vouch for......you can find them cheaper than this at amazon...oh and you might have to buy an enclosure.. but that is no big deal......i have one in my laptop and 1 externally where i run and store ableton projects on....i have never had any issues....they are highly rated and fast!! you can probably buy the whole deal for under a hundred bones.

I've used a number of Western Digital USB bus powered drives over the years. You can get 1TB for $100 these days.

I saw a pretty favorable writeup of one of the 1 TB Passport USB drives. As small as a cigarette case.

So.... could I put the Ableton library on such a drive??

Thx,
