Anyone watch it yet? One of the best hiphop documentaries I've seen in a while. Michael Rappaport did a great job piecing the tribe called quest puzzle.

"Low End Theory" still hiphop's finest moment for me. I saw the tour in a sweaty Avalon club in Chicago in the early '90's. Show started hours late...some stupid promoter coming on the stage every 5 minutes to hype the crowd. People fed up and pissed (to be fair every hip hop show in the 90's started 2 hours late). Then...some shadowy figures on the stage...is it? is it? yes....the bassline to "Excursions" drops....Q-Tip spits the first verse....entire crowd starts bouncing in perfect unison...one of my favorite musical memories.

I'll probably just skip work early and go hit it.

you know how Rappaport plays dopey clueless white boys in movies? I don't think he's acting. could be interesting to hear him talk but it could just be some dopey guy rambling on and on. if he talks I could see it being at the Kabuki, not too far from home.

anyone else think the snares on The Love Movement were mixed waaaaaay too hot? kinda ruins the album for me.

Im not going to spoil Rappaports role. He did ok in that cop show in the 90s.

Co sign on the snares statement. Looking back at some smif n wessun joints, they also mixed the snares too hot when you listen to it. Yea, the Kabuki theatre is big enough for a good Q A session.

Tone when you check it in your neighborhood will you ask them how long they plan to show it?? i get the impression that it might be a matter of luck if you get to see it in a theater.

i heard it's playing in Berkeley. if i can't see it there then i'll pay the toll to get into SF.

I doubt anyone working the front of a theater has a clue how long a movie will be showing.

looks like it's only playing on the west side of the Oakland hills. I did find a film maker Q&A time and location. not gonna post it so tickets don't sell out.

a few years ago, i went to some DMC battle/show/something or other at the great american music hall in SF. rappaport was the MC for the whole thing. i was all like 'dub-tees?' i suppose he enjoys hip hop.
