I recently purchased a new pwrbk 1.5 gHZ G4 OSX 10.36, latest Echo driver v1.3. I appear to be having some compatibility problems with my Echo Indigo IO card.

First, if the card is inserted into the PCMCIA slot before booting, the laptop will not boot past white screen.
However, if the card is inserted after bootup, but before application launch, then the card is recognised.

The second and perhaps more serious problem occurs when, having selected the drivers in my software and am monitoring the sound out of the Indigo, there is a noticable digital noise/hum coming from the outputs.

But when I use the card in my older laptop (Powerbook Titanium G4 500 OSX 10.33, same drivers) there is no digital noise/hum, only clean audio. (It also boots up fine with the card already inserted).

I have spoken to one top audio/hardware computer tech support person. He says he has heard of this issue with the new powerbooks and the Echo Indigo card/s. He feels that the problem might lie with the chipset on the Powerbook PCMCIA board (or something like that).

I have contacted Echo and they have suggested that it might be a faulty card.

I don't feel I should have to buy a new audio card/interface to solve this problem as I like my Indigo card very much. Has anyone heard of/had similar problems? Particularly with the pwrbk 1.5?

I would appreciate anyone's feedback on this.

I have the same probleme here , I think it is the i/o driver which is
pre Panther , they should update I dont know why they do not.
These Indigo Cards are normaly very good but there is a probleme with the i/o.

I am using an Echo Indigo with a new Dell Latitude laptop, and when I first installed it, the audio went to a mixer which also had audio from my desktop computer. There was a very loud machine noise, which seemed to be coming from the desktop. When the laptop is used alone there is no problem, but it now looks as if my Creative Audigy card on the main computer is knackered.

Could this possibly be an earthing problem?
