yeah this 27 rock star death thing is weird. First thing I thought when I saw the report.

Multiples of 9 - apparently life goes in 9 year cycles - 36 next year, shitting myself. Mozart died just before his 36th birthday... not that I'm him, maybe just him without the genius bit. But maybe the 27 club should move on to include all 9 year increments - 27, 36, 45, 54 , 63, 72, 81

maybe there would be a fuckload more members

I watched "Wonders of the universe" with Brian Cox the other night and He was talking about the different types of stars and how the ones that burn brightest have the shortest life spans

I'm not sure Amy Winehouse would count as a Supergiant, but then maybe she was in a kind of Billie Holiday smackhead kind of way

but what made me think of it was more the whole 27 club thing... that and Mozart going at 36 ...burn brighter but burn out sooner....

I watched that fucking Amadeus movie when I was a kid and it certainly raised the bar: "Be a genius and burn out by 36, otherwise you have failed!"

Shit, I'm 35 and haven't released a single Opera. Most of the stuff I have released is disposable club music, so going by that I've got about 12 months to get my shit in order otherwise I have failed.

Got that kids? Think about the music that will be remembered. Forget this bubblegum trendy shit.

Yeah...I liked Amy Winehouse and all but to listen to the news reports and fan comments, she's suddenly been elevated to the Billie Holiday level. ffs.

Not. Even. Close.

Not taking anything away from the late A.W., but seriously. :x

Mentioning Mozart in the same company as the 27 club is a bit silly from my perspective. No offense to any of them, and least of all to Jimi who I'd say was the most musically talented of the group, but even his talent doesn't even really begin to approach the magnitude of W.A. Mozart.

Truth be told the only reason he got mentioned in the same breath was purely because I happened to dig out and watch Amadeus within a day or two of her death, so it was fresh in my mind.... that and he died 9 years later than the 27 club, the whole 9 year cycle thing... etc.....

just my own personal mental tangent interacting with the virtual world in front of me! :)

Yes, she belongs in club 27. Poor girl! She doesn't know how to be happy. We should not die that way people.
