It seems unless im missing something,

You spend ages mapping your perfect custom midi mappings to a live device preset and then save it but if you then drag that device back into a new set the midi mappings are gone meaning you have to re map everything!!

Am i doing something wrong here? is there a way to save default mappings to instruments and devices or will i have to manually map every time i drag it in? :|

midi mappings are live set specific - not device specific. Use rack macros and instant mapping to permanently map controls and midi cc.

there is a cool Max for Live patch called Clipstates. look for it on the maxforlive.com. it solves everything!
