Weird CPU problems

Hello,
I use a macbook pro, 3.06 GHz intel core duo processor, 8GB RAM 1067 MHz DDR3.
I didn't use to have any problems with my CPU while working in Ableton. In a new project,I could use up to 30 audio tracks, with a LOT of effects, midi tracks and a lot of automations, without any problems. The maximum CPU values i got was 15% and that's it.
For the last couple of days,i use 5 audio tracks with 4 insert effects maximum, without any automations etc and my CPU goes up to 25%-30%. And i start to hear clipping, distorted sounds etc.
I had a 500GB hard drive and it was kinda full (10GB left).I deleted a lot of stuff and now i have 125GB free, but still no changes in Ableton's CPU.
Any suggestions of what it may causing the problem and what could I do?
Thanks in Advance,
Alex
