Synthesizers for Ableton

Post by dakrisht » Mon Aug 01, 2011 8:34 am

New to Ableton here. What are some good MIDI Plugin Instruments (synthesizers) that you guys like for house/dance ?

I've been playing around with the Korg M1 Plug-in for classic, old-school synth's but am looking for some good plugins suggestions.

Thanks in advance

For freeware stuff, I'd recommend KVR Synth1 and Zebralette (free when you download the demo of Zebra).

In terms of the terminology you're using, you'll get further if you just google "VST synth" as opposed to "midi plug-in instruments".

Tone2 ElectraX
Synapse Dune

really, there are plenty of such synths :)

if you're more a presets player then definitely Sylenth, Nexus (Rompler) are your friends.

TAL Noisemaker is often suggested as one of the best free synths. It's a pretty much the classic virtual analogue set up, so a good place to start learning synthesis. Not too complicated and a very good sound.
