Looper Synch Question

Hey all,
I'm having a very strange problem. when I'm recording and looping with the ableton looper, everything is peachy right up untill I decide to switch to another track (hit "record arm"). When I do this, the looper gets out of synch from the rest of the clips (which remain in synch). and when I switch back to the instrument track with the looper, all returns to normal. Any advice? Cheers.
