Simple question ;

Is there a way to record audio into live without forced to use Warping function ?

What is the first state of the audio file recorded on hard disk using Live ? Is it always getting recorded with Warp function ?

Because after i record something, i see that the Warp is always on. Does disabling it afterwards means, i have the recorded file as pure as it was coming from the source ? Or is it still Warped ?

I am not sure about Warp's quality issues on original file, thats why i actually don't want to use it . I heard from many that telling it degrades the recorded audio quality .

if i want to use Warp, i need to use it for editing matters , to be able to match the grid on arrangement window .
And after this editing , if i close Warp functions on all audio regions, and than to consolidate all the cuts into one piece (warp is off) , will that mean; i will have an edit , as pure as it was recorded and not getting effected by warp ?

Maybe silly question , but i am totally new to Live, and the reason i am planing to switch is , Ableton syncs perfectly to external midi while Logic and Pro Tools cannot .

As long as the playback tempo is the same as the recording tempo and you haven't messed with any warp markers, audio recorded into Live will be 100% neutral (meaning sample-accurate from what came in from the interface) in all modes except Complex/Complex Pro.

You can turn off the Warp button and it will play back the .wav file identical to how it would have been if you had recorded into Pro Tools or Logic.

There's a really interesting section in the manual that goes over what functions are and are not neutral, as well as talking about MIDI jitter, etc. A very good read for all levels of Live user.

Than i can make my edit in warped mode, cut / paste etc without touching warp markers . Finish the arrangement , turn off the warps on all the regions , consolidate the file , and i will have % 100 what it was recorded , and a finished mix ?
Thats what i need to achieve .

Complex and Complex pro mode from what i read is good for long audio files which has complex harmonics . So my recordings .

Which mode is the best and not putting any single color or change into the original recorded file ?

I believe so. The tempo changes may complicate it a little bit, but I think as long as recorded tempo = playback tempo, you should be fine.

Complex and Complex Pro will both color the sound even when played back at the recorded tempo. Any of the other modes will not color the sound at all if you're playing back at the same tempo.

If you're changing tempo or warping, try the various modes. Complex vs. Complex Pro, the difference (as I understand it) is that Pro is better if you're changing the pitch of the audio, otherwise they work basically the same.
